9/28 Increased concern for Severe
Especially areas east of 95, and even more especially
in Southeastern VA! I am seeing bands spiraling around
the center of Jeanne's remnants which will mean breaks
in rain and possibility of some sunshine in areas.
This is more conducive for thunderstorms and
instability and is giving me more concern for
Tornadoes. Please stay tuned to media and weather
outlets for watches and or warnings. Based on what I
see, I do believe a tornado watch will be issued for
the Southeastern 1/3rd of the Virginia and Maryland
areas. This may extent further north and west, but not
likely too far west of I-95.
All for now!

Heavy rains and some severe
Jeanne's remnants will give us a good shot of rain
today. 2 to 3 inches with some 4 inch plus amounts are
possible especially the eastern side of the higher
elevations. Severe weather will also be possible,
especially eastern VA and Lower Southern Maryland. The
Southern Part of VA could see isolated severe weather
today as well. With the shear in the atmosphere there
is a risk for isolated tornadoes.

FL Disaster in the Makings!
Unlike Ivan and Frances, Jeanne is strengthening and
fast on her arrival. I am thinking Palm Beach up to
Daytona may see major devastation. Most of Northern FL
will be seriously damaged. PLEASE let everyone know
that Jeanne is Major and the way she looks she could
be extreme by the time she makes landfall.
I hope people take her seriously!
She will likely affect us Monday into Tuesday and the
more westward track I am seeing means eastern areas
are more likely to be seriously affected by heavy
rains and winds. Heavy rains could affect us area
wide. More to come!
FOR NOW! Pray for Floridians as I see serious problems
for people down there!
All for now!

What an amazing tropical season!
I just read in awe this evening as Ivan was reborn a
tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico! YES, he has
taken a southeastern US loop off of the SE coast, back
across Florida as a tropical leftover, and then, he
got his strength and name back in the Central Gulf!
And right now, we have 4 named storms in the Atlantic
Basin! I am feeling we may have five by sometime
tomorrow! enough ramblings, we have Jeane to watch!
I am sending an early alert on Jeane. She has made a
loop as well North and east of the Bahamas. She has
started her westward move back towards the US today.
She has been a bad girl already. She killed over 700
people in Haiti. I am concerned of her destinations. I
am thinking she is headed very near the FL/GA coasts!
She could come on shore somewhere North of Daytona up
to GA/SC border (Though up the coast all the way to
the Delmarva is not out of the question). She will
likely not go too far inland if she reaches the coast
as she will start turning north, and then Northeast.
Here is the concern.. She will be close enough to
cause wave action and possible storminess for the
Eastern Shore and Southeastern VA.. BUT, my serious
concern is that she makes it just inland and starts up
the coastal plain from GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, and DE..
moving slow enough to cause yet another round of
ridiculous flooding in the SE US. SO, we need to be
watching and don't dismiss her! I mean.. I dismissed
Ivan and he is back!
More to come the next several days.. which, by the
way, will continue nice, though fog will definitely be
an issue in the mornings!
All for now!

Ivan will affect region in about a Week
I will be unable to alert later next week before the
effects of Ivan will be felt! YES... i do think he
will make a visit, and some things this morning may
mean he is still a tropical storm when he hits... So
Next Friday/Saturday time frame expect the system to
cause rains and severe storms!
Sorry it is so early! But i am out on vacation and
will not have access o the Internet or email!
All for now!

09/07 Heavy Rains/ Severe potential next few days
Frances, or at least what is left of her, is on a
march just along or to the west of the Appalachian
mountains. On this track, we will be getting hit with
heavy rains, some flooding likely, and even Severe
weather as strong "spin" will remain in the
atmosphere. Guidance is showing 2-4 inches, but
Mountainous regions (which have already seen isolated
cases of 1-3" of rain the last few days) are likely to
get a lot more.
The Rain will really start in earnest later today and
into tonight. Severe possibilities are more likely
tomorrow and Thursday.
The weekend is looking good, as eyes turn southward to
Hurricane Ivan!
Right now, I believe strongly that the system is
headed for the Gulf... questions beyond this time
remain.. Will he do a Charley?.. a Bonnie?... or is
the threat the western or Central Gulf?... Obviously
too early to tell!
All for now!

09/02/2004 10:40PM Frances thoughts continued
So the turn to the Northwest was not a total change in
direction, but was a turn or further up the coast.
Closer to Vero Beach.... The thoughts remain the same
to me.. no real sense she will turn out to hit the GA
coast, but I can only say it is a possibility and
there needs to be some diligence on their part.
Despite this, I think GA and SC will still feel the
effects.
What about us.. more concerned about the prospect of
heavy rains here on Wednesday. Severe will also be a
threat..
All I have..
Pray for those in this path and those that will be
affected!

09/02/2004 Frances turns.. WHY?
I am not sure, but she is definitely moving more
Northwesterly than west! This means Northern FL and GA
and SC need to be on alert!
More to come!

09/01/2004 Thoughts on Frances
First things first. I continue to revamp
www.midatlanticweather.com .. It is becoming a little
overwhelming with links so soon you will see a new
navigation menu! Also, the iFraming and linking should
get better! Please check it out!
Next.. Where will Frances go...
A lot of interest in this storm due to its size and
intensity. This storm is huge! Much bigger than
Charley or Andrew in Areal coverage.. She is on the
size of Floyd or Hugo. This one will devastate a
larger portion of Florida than Charley so point
blank.. the East coast of Florida needs to board up
and get ready to head for higher ground!
I have been asked where and why I think the storm will
land where I think it will!
1. The Bermuda High is strong. the National Hurricane
Center keeps noting that Frances is moving around the
High and that it will weaken. If it weakens at all,
Northern Florida is in for it! But now, I think
Frances will likely hit Between Miami and Vero Beach
(seriously thinking at about Ft. Lauderdale to West
Palm Beach).. Don't take my word for it, just wanted
to say it! Please stay on guarded watch ALL of FL EAST
COAST! Note.. a large portion of Florida's east coast
will likely see a Hurricane watch at 11:00 PM EDT
2. I do not see s slowing mechanism in front of
Frances. that slowing is vital for a more northerly
turn.
3. She is still far South, so I just keep having a
hard time with the turn.
Long term.. if she hits Southern FL I am betting she
re-emerges in the Gulf.. if so, Alabama, Mississippi,
and the Florida Panhandle seem the best threat for
another landfall. She will not be in the "Glory" she
is now, but COULD re strengthen and wow, the amount of
money for her will be an unbelievable (Right now
insurance companies already predict close to 20
billion dollars in losses! Remember, Charley and
Andrew were smaller so the widespread damage will be
amazing!)
Will she affect us? Hard to say. I feel she may go
west of the Appalachians, and though we could see some
storms on Monday, we may not get too much.... I am
just pondering, but will try and pin down more later.
All for now!
