COLD AIR DAMMING EPISODE MAY NOT MATERIALIZE! ECLIPSE WILL BE LIMITED. SOME RAIN SHOWERS LIKELY TODAY, ESPECIALLY SOUTHERN 2/3 OF VIRGINIA. A NICE AND WARM WEEKEND AHEAD AS TEMPS COULD HIT THE 80s IN SOME LOCATIONS. NEXT WEEK A BIT OF A PUZZLE BASED ON MODEL DIFFENCES, BUT A STRONG FRONT COULD CROSS THE AREA AND CAUSE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS!
HALLOWEEN WILL BE A TREAT!
Today:
The Lunar Eclipse is in jeopardy of being eclipsed by clouds. Though some breaks should occur enough to see it, I am not holding out for a great view of it. Again, the details are on http://www.space.com . With clouds, a touch of rain for parts, and a little cold air damming, highs may not break above 65 to 70 at best in most locations today.
Tomorrow:
Cold air damming does not look as strong, so the temps may be all over the place! If the sun breaks through, 70 would be possible, without the sun, 60-65!
Friday:
Cool conditions will persist as clouds are on the increase. I expect it to be similar to today, with highs 65 to 70 at best.
Weekend:
I am very optimistic that we will see 70Âs to 80 degrees in many locations this weekend! A front will traverse the area so cloudy intervals are likely, and a shower or two cannot be ruled out! Really enjoy the weather as it may be the last of such warm conditions during a weekend for a while. As noted, Halloween looks dry and warm!
Election Day:
It doesnÂt matter! Get Out And Vote as I see this as one of the most important elections in the history of the US! There may be rain to deal with, but, just as the election, it is very much up in the air based on which set of data you look at! =)
The National Weather Service in Sterling did a great review of the Ivan tornadoes that is worth the look! http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/lwx/sept17tornadoes/
I also received the following from Emergencye.com concerning disaster aid deadline approaching for the counties hit by Tropical Storm Gaston:
