Cold to start to lessen - RAIN on the way - then cold/dry?

Sorry for the later day post today. Weather was cold and breezy! The cold is going to lessen as the weekend continues and a storm begins to go west of the Appalachians. We will still see highs in the upper 30s to low 40s tomorrow. Saturday continues about the same but more clouds and a few snow showers are possible in the north. Another colder day Sunday after the passage of a front and then Monday poses some challenges.

Monday, as warm moist air overrides colder air at the surface some mixed precip is possible in the Valleys and the immediate Piedmont. As of now, this looks fairly light, but I suspect we will have some issues as we get closer to the event as the cold air damming will set up and is always hard for models to get right. Most of the coastal plains will see a potential for some sleet mixing at onset and then a cold rain. It is even possible a more substantial rain will occur Tuesday and some flooding concerns if this melts some snow pack. We will see.

After this system, cold looks to come back and the pattern also looks dry.

All for now!
